Phyllostachys meyeri is a useful bamboo in the landscape due to its tendency to grow upright.  It is similar to P. aurea  but taller and lacking the condensed internodes at the base.  It is a hardy bamboo for most climates and one of the better bamboos for growing in very hot southern regions. A fast, reliable grower that makes an excellent screen.
