This smaller shrub bamboo creates a nice variegated hedge with long, slender leaves. It also makes a fine container specimen. Although it is listed at height of 4-8 feet, it can easily be cut down every spring and maintained like a dwarf groundcover bamboo.  Among variegated bamboos, it has the longest, most slender leaf which provides elegant texture to any landscape. it is best to use rhizome barrier or root pruning techniques with this bamboo because of its spreading habit.
