Semiarundinaria sp.
'Fall Red'

Maximum Height: 15-20 feet
Diameter: 1+ inches
Hardiness: 0 F  ?
Recommended for USDA zone 7 through 10

We think this bamboo is a Semiarundinaria, but are unsure of the species. In the fall, the culms that are exposed to the sun turn a beautiful reddish-maroon color, especially after a frost. For us, it has better color than Semiarundinaria fastuosa. It is very upright, as can be seen in the upper picture. To achieve optimum color it should be planted where it will receive the most intense sun on the culms from a south or west exposure.
