This bamboo has beautiful large leaves, and it is among the hardiest of the bamboos. In the winter of 2004 this species remained green in Susanne Lucas's garden in Plymouth, MA, when most other bamboos turned brown or lost all leaves. It should be evergreen to Zone 6.
