The second form of Jiuzhaigou, collected as a seedling from Jiuzhaigou Park in Sichuan China by M. Laferrere of France. It is very similar to Jiuzhaigou I but has slightly larger canes and leaves with a more "open" clump habit (more space between each culm), and it is not as brightly colored. The branches radiate from the culm at a 45° angle, as opposed to Jiuzhaigou I, which tends to radiate at 90°. See comparison in the last two photos (Jiuzhaigou I is the last one). The branches are also longer. One of the most cold hardy bamboos available.
